You can disable Smart Resume at any time through the Settings menu. By selecting 'Sign Out' you have decided not to agree to the 'Terms of Activation'.
If you do not agree, you will be unable to continue. A bit overboard on global warming controversies, but definitely worth watching or owning the movie.
Getting a bit tired of Quaid's same old predictable facial expressions across all his movies--not that great an actor--but oh well, the rest is worth it; and in the end, Dennis Quaid seems like a likeable enough kind of guy that I won't refuse to watch his films.
Let's be clear right out of the gate; I don't deny climate change, but it's being exaggerated like how it is done in this film if you heard it right.
It stars Dennis Quad as a Climatologist named Jack Hall who ends up being a reluctant hero who at first is seen as crazy, but as the weather goes bonkers, he ends up being the go-to person of how everyone should survive.
This is essentially a Greatest Hits for Disaster flicks minus earthquakes as you got twisters, hail storms, heavy rainfall, tsunami, a hurricane mentioned briefly and barely seen and to top it all off, a deep freeze.
The science in this film is bogus where although parts of it are true, they're overblown and exaggerated which is par for the course for Hollywood Natural Disaster flicks.
My advice: Don't take this film as a Climate Change film that should be required to watch as like I said, the science here is bogus or inaccurate and instead just watch it for fun as a popcorn flick to kill a few hours.
I really like this movie as I have watched it several times. I love this genre. Politics do not belong in movies they aren't about, their tactics to push an agenda are quite annoying.
I wasn't. A good movie. A little over the top on a lot of things but in ways makes you think what could happen.
Which could have been avoided with all the wooden furniture around but I get the reference. See all reviews.
Top reviews from other countries. This is a stunning film and covers a multitude of countries rather than just America, which is the norm these days.
But more important than that, this could actually happen; it is not science fiction, it is science fact. Of course, the worst offenders of pollution are the Americans, Chinese and probably Russia too.
Until those countries' behaviour is modified, attempts by other countries are worthwhile but sadly a small drop in a very large ocean.
Not even the current American president believes in global warming and with that sort of attitude, our planet that we call "Mother Earth" is doomed.
Report abuse. There are many catergories with sub-divisions, a mini documentary on Global Warming, and many other interesting articles.
The film is a work of fiction but the 'message' is clear. I loved "The Day After Tomorrow" - that rare beast - a blockbuster movie with groundbreaking special effects wrapped around a half decent story - all carried by actors you like and with the chops to give the whole shebang a bit of gravitas.
Professor Jack Hall discovers that due to global warming, the polar ice caps are melting, which is lowering ocean temperatures.
This triggers a massive climate shift which causes many natural disasters and eventually a new ice age. Everyone he warned realises this too late, and as they try to evacuate to the warmer south, for half of the northern USA, and Canada, it's already too cold to go outside.
Meanwhile, Jack's son, Sam, is in Manhattan on a trip with some friends. Jack heads north to try and rescue his son, but the cold is a powerful adversary Its round three with Emmerich destroying the Big Apple, but this time it's not Aliens or Godzilla, its a bit of a chill, preceded with a tsunami, and a few Twisters.
And as you'd expect, the film is all about the spectacle, rather than narrative and character development, and the film tells its story in a three tier way.
The first part is all your favourite actors from around the world spouting out all the Basil Exposition, until we see what they were all on about, and that's part two with added CG wolves , and the third part is Quaid and Co searching for his son.
Its perfunctory stuff, you know all the main characters are going to survive, so all Gyllenhaal has to worry about is if that other guy will stop chatting up Rossum.
Quaid is as reliable as ever, and he can do the best concerned parent look ever, but when a film features frost chasing people, you have to take the film with a huge pinch of salt.
Sure the science is on the ropey side, it is a film though not a scientific theory, let it stand as a film and you get a great fim.
